If it's your first time at fight club...
Grab a chair and a beer, sit back and watch the fun. No You don't have to fight, in fact you can choose not to . You can do this really well by choosing not to come to the contact sparring sessions.
Contact sparring
Contact sparring at the Macclesfield Kickboxing Academy, is done in a safe controlled environment. All participants wear safety kit, and whilst it may look like a good old dust up to the uninitiated, by and large, its an exchange of controlled skill to land measured blows scoring points.
Its the rules
The rules of play for a given sparring session are handlded by the leading instructor of the day. The rules are strongly affected by the sections of the syllabus that is being run in any given time period. The idea is to develop a whole set of skills in various disciplines which bring on the students in a constructive and measured way. Its no use being great at kicking if that's you're only skill. If you have any doubt over this concept, just check on youtube.
Safety gear
All fighters must employ personal safety equipment as per the academy's standard. Safety is not an option. If you don't want to wear safety kit, then er.. choose not to come to the fighting classes. They are supplimental to your training program. Fighting classes will help you get better, but they are not the only way to improve your martial arts skills.
You can get all your safety gear at the academy, just ask your instructor or drop us an email.
