Martial arts movies and links

This area of the Macclesfield kickboxing academy site is compiled with great love and affection by several of our members, who grew up on diet of Chuk Norris, Bruce Lee, Karate-kids, Jackie Chan, crazy Run Run Shaw films, home made nunchuks in the back yard, bashed fingers copying Monkey Magic and other forms of innocent madness. The rest of our time we wasted; studying hard, socialising, playing video games and avoiding sunlight.

The inpsirational Karate Kid movie

This section of Macclesfield Kickboxing Academy site would not be complete without a mention of the Karate-kid movie. For all those kids who wanted to do Karate, but mom wouldnt let us, this movie saved our dreams. Mr Miyagi cast martial arts in a favourable light once more, and a generation of kids took to their pj's and discovered amongst the joys of impaling their mates on a texbook back kick, a lifetime of discipline, focus and friendships.

The original Karate-kid film is worth a re-watch, be sure to check it out, The social commentary, naff fight scenes and common sense aphorsim spouted by Mr. Miyagi are superb. Having said that, and be honest, who didn't secretly want to be a member of the Kobra-Kai gym?

"Deadly Dragon Budgie Fist"

Read on and before you watch some of these films, remember, they are what they are and should be viewed with rose tinted spectacles. Make sure you check out Alexi Sayle's guide to Kung-fu films, its the definative take on why how and what for. Enjoy and dont judge a passion born of obsession.
